A Little Bit About Me

My name is Tina Shaw, and I am a professional childcare provider.

I have operated my family dayhome for almost 15 years and I have been
taking care of children since I was 10 years old.
I took my Early Childhood Education here in Grande Prairie at the
GPRC.  I was employed at Building Blocks Day Care at the college for
a total of 3 years before starting my dayhome.
During this time I worked in all the rooms (infant 0-16 months,
toddler 17-27 months, junior 28months - 4 years and senior 4-6years)
and in the summer camp program Campus Club for school aged children.
During my years as a dayhome provider, I have cared for ages ranging
from 13 days to 12 years old. I also spent a year in Australia as a
family nanny.

I have been married to my husband Kelly for 6 years and
together for 10. Yes, you read that right, my daycare has been in my life
longer than my husband lol.  Together we have 2 children, our daughter
Claire was stillborn in June 2014 and she is still a big part of our life and
comes up in conversation regularly.  Our son Kyle, was born healthy,
13 months later in July 2015.

I take my profession as a childcare provider
very seriously. I am a professional childcare provider, NOT a babysitter.
I have attended college and further education for my profession and
am constantly doing things to improve my knowledge and skills.

I also enjoy making home made wood crafts and frequent the GP
Farmers market and other craft markets around Grande Prairie.
If you'd like to check them out, please see my site
on Facebook.

Our four kitties

We have four cats, all of them have not known life without the kids around and accept the children and often come to visit. Obviously they do not like to be agitated or attacked and when they join us in the playroom they are monitored as to not hurt the children and that the children will not hurt them. There has been an occasion or two where they have defended themselves from tail pulling or hitting. This behavior will not be tolerated by the children or the cats. As a home run childcare space, pets are an added bonus for children to learn about how to care for animals and their needs
